I saw Crockett using Patou cologne in preparing to meet Calderone's henchmen in "Heart of Darkness" and wanted to know if anyone here used it?

Eingefügtes Bild"Patou pour Homme by Jean Patou is a oriental fougere fragrance for men. Patou pour Homme was launched in 1980. Top notes are lavender, clary sage and basil; middle notes are patchouli, geranium, vetiver and fir; base notes are leather, civet, vanilla and tonka bean."Source: http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Jean-Patou/Patou-pour-Homme-3532.htmlThere are a lot of vocab words here that are not in my bourgeois vocabulary:FougereClary sageVetiver (I think I've heard of that maybe once)CivetTonka beanPatchouli = hippiesTonka = cool trucksI don't think Crockett want to smell like a dam* hippie, I'm sure that somebody used patchouli before hippies found out about it.Tonka, yeah, sounds about right.Eingefügtes Bild

I bought it many years ago.. it’s out of production.. smells very rich, wooden and dominant.. somewhat comparable to Kuros.. most people will think its way to intense. The compatible fragrance for woman would be Chanel No 5.

Oh, by the way... does anyone know what is/was Don Johnson's favourite perfume, at that time or now? I saw him on a "Vorago" cologne ad, from the 80-s, I guess... but I don't know what it smells like.

Likewise, does anyone know the cologne Rico is using in the same segment?

Can anybody confirm this?

Kuros is still in production, might get me some if it's similar to the original Patou Pour Homme.

Patou Pour Homme was also re-released and is available, though some of the original ingredients are no longer available for use and were not included in the new formulation.

I wonder if it smells the same with these different ingredients?  I'll look for it, since I'm curious what aroma Crockett preferred & if I like it, I'll buy it as well.

I nearly had a bottle of the vintage stuff some months back as I too would like to compare it to the new version. The original is rare and so very expensive when you can find it.

I've read that it's completely different. I guess it depends on the nose though, I've haven't smelt either of them.

I haven't seen the new version anywhere here in Australia.

This is the new version of PPH. Not sure what it smells like, but Fragrantica classifies it as a leather fragrance, whereas the 1980 PPH was an Oriental fougere.
