One of the best action movies ever. The final chase is spectacular. I don't like the original Mad Max as much. It has some great chase scenes but I don't think it's too good apart from that. It definitely showed potential though and that was realised in The Road Warrior. Haven't seen Beyond Thunderdome yet though. This movie certainly looks good from the trailer. I don't like modern movies too much though. I think very few good movies have been made since 2000. BlueAir Posted July 28, 2014 Report Share Posted July 28, 2014 I love Mad Max 2 and this looks like it holds true to the spirit of the other films.I'm glad to see the vehicles aren't assembly line fresh and pure product placement (like Transformers did).It does look more frightening and it has lots of stuff to like.I'm not too bugged by the American accents as in Beyond Thunderdome Tina Turner had a part in it and I thought she was good in it. I think very few good movies have been made since 2000. with thunderdome, its abit of a mixed bag because of a tradgedy with a helicopter. one of George Millers Main Friends who inspired him to do the films in the first place died in a helicopter crash while filming and he was so distraught and broken from it he handed it off to a different director to finish the film hence its toneal shift towards the end. So I always kind of gave that film a pass critically because of that, as its considered one of the weaker in the series, and theres not really that much car combat in it. plus theres some odd casting choices, one of which is similar to Scott Wheeler showing up as a different character in the prodigal son at the start when it comes to the Gyrocopter pilot. but however its not like its a must skip film, it has its moments. and with the interceptor in the trailer, I dont think she's dead this time, given a connection to something else mad max related thats going to be released at the same time of the film although I dont want to spoil it and I must wonder though how does this fit into the chronological order of the films? Post 2, Pre 2, post 3 even? also I may need to get this poster they show here lol source: http://www.madmaxmovies.com/ also with the horror aspects of the films, based around the wounds and the like I believe either george miller or the friend that passed were both medical technicians of some sort back in the 1970's hence there attention to detail when it came to the wounds and their after effects in the first 2 films and with mad max 1, I have to admit its abit of a long sit tonally, but its still a fine film, it just could have used a little more editing but its kind of like Terminator 1 Vs 2, they did the best they had with what they had and its like the first film is rigged up like a horror picture, the other an action piece. I have the North American version which I have watched many times but recently obtained the Original "Auzzie" version that did NOT have the voices dubbed but used the actors original voices. Quite a difference after twenty years of hearing the other voices?I actually like the original and the Road Warrior but thought the third episode of the trilogy was a bit weak. The story line was ok but thin in it's story telling of what happens in the future. This trailer looks promising but I for one and not a big fan of sequals and I only hope this new episode holds up to the old ones. I wish it success and I will probably go to the theatres to see it on the big screen but in reality I am not holding my breath as I know how blockbusters just go for the money and the younger generations egos. Shall I make a list of poor sequals? I think not...............they speak for themselves. Lets hope and keep our fingers crossed for a truly entertaining and faithful story.
